Complete Mount Modernisation & Certification for EQ8
€4,635.00 Ex. VAT
SAE’s modernisation service updates Skywatcher’s ageing design by including features such as anti-backlash gearing to both axes, heavy-duty worm gears and bearings, modern timing drives with a choice of timing drive reduction ratios, higher precision, stiffer axis bearings and shafts, lapped and burnished gearing, the latest Skywatcher motor controller and more.
Each mount is inspected, photographed, bench-tested for performance and documented on arrival. After refurbishment of key components that are to be retained, it is professionally rebuilt with SAE’s upgraded components, retested for tracking and backlash behaviour and again documented. Customer mounts are shipped to and from SAE’s facility in a special wooden crate which protects the sensitive gearing against shock loads.
Canted HD Pier to suit Latitude 35 to 60°
€2,500.00 – €5,000.00Price range: €2,500.00 through €5,000.00 Ex. VAT
This pier was specifically engineered using extensive structural FEA studies to support medium aperture imaging telescope systems on polar mounts in permanent observatories. It is suitable for domes of 3m diameter and above and for structures with movable roofs. This series of piers is designed to place the intersection of DEC and RA axes of a telescope mount 1.5m above the level of the foundation slab, maximising sky access.
Construction is from heavy mild steel plates of thickness 3, 4, 8, 12 and 20mm, seam-welded and internally reinforced as required to achieve a natural frequency of greater than 20Hz with realistic loading. The pier is supplied in two versions, to suit a latitude of either 40 or 50 degrees. Fine adjustment of polar alignment is performed using the controls on the mount. These piers cover installation latitudes in the range 35 – 60°.
