Worm wheel blanks are made from 6061 T6 aluminium billet, 20% thicker than the OEM part it replaces, reducing deflection under high torque loading. Each is precision hobbed on modern gear-cutting equipment, shrink-fitted to a hub fitted with quality deep-groove ball bearings, then machine lapped, hardcoat anodised, burnished to a mating hardened steel worm gear then inspected.
Wheels are module 0.5, 435 tooth, 218.2 mm pitch diameter, 12mm thick. Hardcoating of wheels and hubs is as per BSEN 2536:1995 Type A Category 1, 40um nominal thickness.
Finished wheels are viscoelastically damped to lower the noise floor during tracking. Where purchased with a mating HD ABL Worm Block Kit, we will match-burnish each wheel to its mating worm gear. Theoretical torque capacity with the matching worm gear assembly is 60Nm.
